Arts could offer solace, connection, and transformation
Kit Loring is a British psychologist and psychotherapist, a certified and registered Clinical Arts Therapist in the UK, clinical supervisor and trainer, and member of the British Association of Dramatherapists. He is co-founder and co-director of Ragamuffin International, a humanitarian arts therapy organization that operated from 1999 to 2020.
For over 20 years, Kit has conducted training programs for psychological and social services professionals in the UK, Cambodia, Russia, India, Finland, and led masterclasses in Germany, the USA, Greece, Singapore, and other countries. He has taught at universities in the UK, Russia, Kazakhstan, Finland, Mexico, and Cambodia, and has been a speaker at international academic conferences. In Russia, he collaborates with leading universities, including Plekhanov University and the Higher School of Economics, where he serves as a leading instructor in the academic master's program.
Kit works with diverse client groups, including victims of abuse, individuals with trauma, children and adults with autism spectrum disorders, people with disabilities, those struggling with addictions and eating disorders, and juvenile and adult offenders. His professional focus includes trauma therapy, addictions, eating disorders, anger and aggression, sexual abuse, child protection, and applied arts therapy. Before his career in mental health, Keith led creative multimodal projects and toured with Theatre in Education companies in the UK, working in drama, music, and poetry. In Russia, Kazakhstan, and Georgia, he conducts therapeutic and training groups, including "Puzzles of Love," "The Art of Being a Parent," trauma psychotherapy programs, and supervision groups for practicing psychologists.
